At long last, it's weekend time!

Thought you might like a picture of my little friend! We found him outside 7-11, his name is kromer and he is about 10 cm long... nice! He also had his two roaches with him (as bodyguards) who also were 10 cm long and could fly... yes! They could fly! After a while they dissappeared into 7-11 for some hotdogs and a six-pack... or perhaps they became hotdogs :D

Anyway:

On Monday we went to the talent show for the local clubs. Each club had 20 minutes to show off their skills or have a presentation. This was in the main oditorium with about 1000-1500 eager audience members... This was about the funniest thing i have ever seen. We didn't understand anything (all in chinese) but basically it was group after group of people making complete fools of themselves on stage. The only one that got is slightly right was the roler hockey team. The sign language techno-dance was by far the funniest (probably because we missed the chess and bridge clubs)!

No classes on Friday! Long weekend number 1 is about to begin. The first week of intro lectures is over and the course line-up is done. The courses i will be taking are as follows:

Capital Markets and Finacial Institutions
Asia Pacific Relations/Security
US, PRC (Peoples Rupublic of China), Taiwan and Taiwan Strait Security
Taiwan Government and Politics
Chinese for beginners

All in all this should give me a secondary subject in Asia Studies and the course at Hanken known as Pricing. Thats 20 study weeks in total.

Almost all the teachers speak excellent English, and some are very intresting characters, especially the Asia Pacific Relations guy... he has been the presidents advisor in matters concerning security and realtions to China. He has also been a diplomat for Taiwan in the US. This however has not helped his English much and he mostly sounds like Jackie Chan (on drugs) when he talks...

With the long weekend ahead i think we are going to go exploring in Kaohsiung and get a handle on just what is where. We are also considering taking the bus... considering i said...

Rant of the week:

1. Not having a TV! Hopefully coming soon!

2. No decent hangover food on campus :(

3. The school is very slow and bad at giving out information and helping us adjust. We have learned to deal with it and double check but it does get a bit tiring.

Bonus of the week:

1. Snakes on a Plane! What a great film! Join the hype! Believe the hype!

2. The other exchange students are a lot of fun and going out has never been this good. The drinks are cheap and with 30 people we can take over any club and chose what music we want! (There are normally like 8 people before we arrived :D)
