Bangkok Day 2
All-sprite, we will start off the guide tour of the day with a foto from our hotel room, just so you get a rough idea of what i'm on about. The bedroom is just as big as the lounge and in the middle is a section with the bar/kitchen and the bathroom. The view is ok, but there is a lot of construction work going on so as long as you look straight ahead its quite nice.
The plan of the day was to head down to Wat Pho, which is a large temple complex that houses one of the worlds largest buddha statues. It is about 30m tall and 70m long (its layng down, so it can fit into the temple) and is called the reclining buddha. The complex was beautiful and housed some incredible pillars, and statues. We spent halfthe day wondering around this area and got some great fotos. After a lot of walking we took a cab to Bayor Sky hotel to have lunch in the panorama restaurant on the 77th floor.

The restaurant opended at 17:30, so we sat in the bar for a while and spoke to a lovely swedish couple aged around 45, who happened to be hardcore bikers, the we took a strole around the market under the hotel and the surrounding stalls (I purchased an England rugby shirt for the insane price of 5€). Finally the time came for dinner. The food there was amazing!, (it had better be for 20€ 8|), it was an international buffet with thai, japanese, chinese, european and american cuisine, the last was completely avoided. The view was incredible! We had a window table and the 77th floor is up at about 300m. It made most skyscrapers look puny :D. Finally we headed up to the 83rd floor to the rotating outdoor panorama deck to get some pictures. By this time evening was coming in fast.

We are now in the hotel and are about to go for a swim and some sauna, and then probably to one of the local bars.
Rant of the day:
1. The first taxi we got in tried to rip us off big time, when we blew his scam wide open (thank you lonely planet guide book), he became the nicest man in the world. The he tried to rip us off again.
2. I don't want to buy everything, i'm just looking, i'm not "biiiiiig hansome man", i don't want a massage, or a taxi, or some weird rat looking thing on a stick, and i'm not desperate to own an i-phod, or an o-pad, or a o-mp3, or an i-music and i certainly don't want a taylor. Why does everyone in this city think i want a new silk suite and a jewel necklace for my girlfriend. Oh, and finally, if that is a real _______ (insert diamond, leather, silk, nokia or sony here), then i'm the king of this insane country.
don't take these too seriously, we are having a wicked good time :D
Bonus of the day:
1. Local beer is good and cheap!
2. Most hagglers stop if you look at them in a weird way
3. Air-conditioning Rules!!!

2 Comments:
hello boys! I'm deligted to hear that you have arrived safe and sound. It's a kind of happy ending;). Bank-kock is the city you wanna visit. As i told you robbe there is one road you just have to experience, I'm talking about Khao San Road...backpackers heaven. Go there buy everything you can get your hands on and head back to your luxurious hotell.the hole gig will cost you about 2-3 euros... wow isn't that amazing. just kidding. I mean if you buy everything you have to swim home, since you are out of cash. but anyway Khao San is full of cheap and and interesting stuff as the 200 m long road is crowded with street vendors, especially in the evening when the neonplates light up the street. So if you find the time to do this, grab a cab and head there in the evening (around 8 pm). Well thats all for now. Take care boys and be nice...
regards,
The yodeler from Vienna(soon at least)
What?! No jewel necklace for me??
