First Day... survived

Whew... Finally the first day is wrapped up and completed. Registration was a breaze as we were way early ro avoid any complications. Those who tried there luck and arrived later had several problems and lost far more time during the day then we had to "waste" on getting up early. The courses of the day were "Taiwan Politics and Government" which seems like a very intresting course. The professor is from the US which makes understanding him very easy. The course is built around analysing the differences in the economic development from about 1900 to today, in China and Taiwan. The course seems quite easy but very rewarding. The second introductory lesson was for "Capital Markets and Finacial Institutions" which seems intresting and should be a good stepping stone into the world of Finance. The course may be tough but i'm sure it's worth it. Our teacher, who's english was surprisingly good, seems more eager to teach us, than to test us, which is just what i need! All in all i'm looking at 5 hours of class per day and maybe about 1 hour of homework which will pile up as the midterms and final exams inevitably surprise me and leave me with the greatest motivator... last minute panic!


On Fridays I have no classes which will open up room for some trips around taiwan and maybe to Hong Kong or Japan (these are being discussed with other exchange students). I also start late on monday (school from 14:00-> 21:00) which is good after a long weekend.

Today i also joined the Hiking/Climbing club and the Tai Chi club, which should give me some time for exercise and reflecting. I also signed up for Buddhist meditation but i seriously doubt i will last more than 5 minutes of silence in a Zen-like state :D

Rant of the day:

Nothing really, except that some course times and places are changing around making hard to plan my schedule. It just takes some getting used to, and learning not to take anything for granted. They also dropped some of the Fiance courses so i have to take a Finance course when i get back to get it as a secondary subject :(, will probably get enough credits to get "Asian studies" as a made up secondary subject which would be nice.

Bonus of the day:

1. The AC systems are being installed! They are almost doen with the first floor so we should get ours tomorrow!!! :D

2. Finally getting the knack of ordering the right foods in the restaurants!

3. The Hiking and Climbing club is preparing some awesome trips for us (free of charge :D)
