Kuala Lumpur Day 3

We spent the morning and better half of the day lounging around the pool. The sun was shining so it was really worth it. We also took a walk around the local mall. In the evening we headed down to Chinatown. This was quite an experience I can tell you. It was the same kind of market selling the same kind of goods as Khao San rd and Pat Pong with regular (as in no go-go) bars and restaurants along the side. We shopped around a bit and then sat down for a beer. This included two surprises. First of all the beer as 0.7 liters and 6.7 % alcohol volume. Nothing to complain about there, just a positive surprise. While we were walking around we noticed everyone of the merchants had a walkie talkie. We thought it was to order more goods from a basement or something of that kind. Anyway, while enjoying our beers we noticed 8 chinese merchants from two separate stalls go ape-shit all of a sudden. They started waving frantically and cleared both their stalls in 40 seconds flat and disappeared into the crowd. We asked the waitress what was happening, she gave us an asian smile and answered that the Police was on their way to raid their stalls. That’s when it dawned on us that the walkie talkies were for communicating with lookouts that would inform vendors of approaching police and then stall them so the vendors could get away safely. After our beers we headed back to the mall for dinner and some light surfing.
