This is what happens when you kill one of the kromers :DSo the weekend has come to an end and all that remains is some reading, laundry and homework. Well what happened? Actually quite a lot. First of all Andreas and I got ourselves some taiwanese sim-cards for our mobile phones... Was this harder than anything we have done so far here... yes! First of all you can't just pop into the 7-11 and get one as you would in Finland. This is how it works.
1. Decide to go out to get sim-card
2. Walk around for 1 hour looking for a phone store
3. Find one
4. Explain to the lady you don't speak chinese, takes about 15mins
5. Explain through hand-signals that you want a sim-card, takes about 15mins of waving and one minor heartattack
6. Show two forms of legal ID... hmmm... explain you only have your passport and show a temporary student ID.
7. Store clerk looks like you, as if you were dressed up in a bunneysuit and doing the hippetyhop.
8. Finally clerk gives up and gives you sim-card while charading in sign languauge that she needs to fax some papers and that the card will work in 3 hours.
9. Pay for the card.
10. Walk home.
11. Wait 3 hours and turn on phone
12. Phone does not work
13. Wait 3 more hours
14. Phone doesn't work
15. Wait 3 days
16. Phone doesn't work
17. Go back to store and explain to new clerk the phone doesn't work, takes about 45mins as she figures what is wrong.
18. She once again says she needs to fax something and that it will work in 3 hours.
Current time and date... i have now waited for 2 hours and the excitment is unbearable. Hopefully it will work by next week :D

On Friday we went out to Party at our hangout. DNA nightclub. I think i wrote about this one already but incase i forgot, it makes any pub or nightclub in jakobacka or kerava look like the Hilton Hotel! But hey, you pay 10€ and you get to drink as much as you want. This is ofcourse a good deal for the barowner when the taiwanese (a drink 4 beers a piece) come, but we are all european! The night out was great and Joe (American exchange student from San Diego) and I ended up getting the head bartneder drunk... which was hilarious. As she was stumbling around shouting at her subordinates to work faster as she was downing shot after shot with me and Joe. Check out the foto of me with the bar staff. She is the one who doesn't look very happy at the fact that i have climbed over the bar (and finished off the last 2dl of her Lagavulin whiskey). She ended up on the dance floor with us and finally going home with Joe :/

Saturday was spent curing a minor headache and upset stomach, caused by some bad tofu... i think :D. We went to the Cinema to watch "Click", which was actually quite good, followed by dinner at TGI Fridays (American Bistro, kindda like Chicos).
Today we went to the Gym in the morning, which is open every sunday at 10-19 except this one.
One thing i also wanted to tell you all about is the honk and drive tactic used by taxi drivers here. There are traffic lights, lanes etc. on the streets but these are at most a recommendation and by no means anything to take to seriously. The taxi drivers who all chew betel nuts (a narcotic as powerful as marijuana but legal in taiwan, causes lots of spitting and red teeth) drive like crazy people. On the average 7-10km taxi ride we run at least 4 red lights, drive on the sidewalk once, pass other cars in the oncoming traffic lane twice and almost crash into something or someone three to six times. This is however ok, because whenever the driver wants to pull another daredevil stunt he just honks before he does it and everyone else had better move out of the way :D. I think they are all high off their nuts and thus don't really care but so far there have been no accidents so i guess they are devinely lucky too. It's fun though, because you always know they are going to do something crazy everytime they honk their horns.
Rant of the weekend:
1. Stupid phones that don't work
2. The cleaniong lady that comes once a week to clean hasn't showed up yet and its starting to look a bit dingy in the toilets. Mostly because the french guys can't hold their liquore and because they don't understand what a clogged toilet is.
3. If anyone s wondering why it took so long to get the AC installed, see the last picture!
Bonus of the week:
1. Good party on Friday
2. Good food at TGI Friday (Fahitas!)
3. Taxis are way more exciting than any ride in any themepark in the world!
