Oh, What a day!

Yesterday has to have been one of the best since we arrived in Asia. We started the day with a slight lay in, as we had nothing planned. After lunch (see photo of a regualr lunch portion) however we decided to go into the city center to see what was going on there. As you may already have realised, we have both developed a fetish for towers and other tall buildings and seeing as Kaohsiung offers a fairly nice one, yepp you guessed it, we headed there. Not quite as impressive as KL Tower or the Sky Hotel, the 85 tower is still worth the trip. The view was good and it gave as an indication of just how big this city really is. Afterwards we headed out for some sightseening/shopping. I finally got a hold of a good and cheap pair of basketball shorts (the team is being registered on monday so i had to get my gear in shape).
We had heard about an electronics street in Kaohsiung, and so obviously we had to get a glimpse of that spectacle. The street is fairly long (about 1-2km) and both sides are completely lined with electronics stores (mostly computer parts and software). Computer components were very cheap but this was mostly for local brands only. It was still quite the bustling and action filled bazar feeling but no haggling and pushy vendours. Almost every store we entered completely froze upon our entry and we recieved the usual stares that we have become used to by now. It was once we got back that things got intresting. Almost all the "fun" exchange students had worked up a plan to go out and party and ofcourse we were up for the challenge. We headed down to 7-11 for some preparty drinks and then sat down with the czechs, and some others. It was at this point that i made a big mistake. Pavel (one of the czechs), challenged me to a bet and i ofcourse accepted (i'm stupid like that). The bet was to party all night until 9am and then head down to the sports field to support the NSYSU roller hockey team in the seasons first match. No sleep was allowed and a constant party attitude was required. Anyway, we quickly headed out to DNA, a "popular night club, according to lonely planet...buahahah... with free drinks all night after a cover charge of 400 NTD (10€) was paid. We indulged in some drinks and dancing and all was well. The club by the way was about as trendy as my left toe, about as stylish as a basement and the DJ booth was made up of an old truck front end (nice..:D). All in all Alepub in Helsinki is a more stylish establishment in all fields. We were a good bunch and we made the party. At 2:30 in the morning most of the guys wanted to go out to another fancier club and so they left, leaving me and Pavel to keep up apperances at DNA. We had a good time by ourselves until most of the other guests decided they wanted to fight us. They would each in turn come up to us and politely say: "excuse me, may i fight you? It is great honour to fight western man!", we ofcourse declined but by the 7th guy, it got creepy so we decided to find Fabric and join the others. This was easier said than done. We ended up getting driven to 2 bars with women of questionable nature and yakuza bosses so we gave up and retreated to 7-11 by the school to wait for the others, the sunrise and the hockey game. It was 5 in the morning when the others showed up, it was 5:30 when they left, it was 6:00 when the sun went up amd i think it was 7:30 when we both admitted defeat and retired for the night. I don't yet know if Pavel went to the game, in which case i have to dress up as a woman to our next party but the way he was talking and walking when we went to bed would contradict any statement about him mustering the strength to get up before 4 in the afternoon.

All in all a good day and a great night out. Today we are taking it slow, obviously, but maybe just maybe, we might head out to the night market.

2. Getting driven to places with women of questionable nature all night.
